Multidisciplinary Artist Born on May 13th of 1967 in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. His first exposure to art was at the age of 6 in the workshop El Palomar Mexico, in the municipality of Tlaquepaque Jalisco, Mexico. In this workshop by watching and helping the master artisans he while learning the technique of high temperature ceramics he developed his passion for the form of art Professionally, he began his full time career in art with a collective exhibition in 1998 at the Administrative Unit of Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. In the year 2000-2011 he is selected in national and international competitions such as the Biennial José Atanasio Monroy, the Biennial of Florence Italy, solo exhibition for the closing of the Bicentennial of Mexico, at the Embassy of Mexico in the city of Montreal, as well as participating in the traveling exhibition for the Society of Museums of Montreal. In 2005 he travels to Quebec City, Canada which he takes as his second home and looks for opportunities to exhibit his work. He has participation's in some important galleries such as the great gallery Gora in Montreal, which catapults and consolidates him as a Mexican artist whose works are characterized by their tendency to constructivism or cubism.He has held several solo exhibitions in galleries, cultural and artistic spaces in Montreal. Currently Hugo Barajas continues to exhibit his work at the Richelieu Gallery in Montreal, which sponsors more than a hundred artists representative of various expressions of contemporary art. After having had the opportunity as a Latin American artist to exhibit his works in the largest province of Quebec and to strengthen the presence of his works in Quebec collecting circles, Hugo Barajas returns in 2006 to Mexico to continue his artistic journey. Exploring other techniques including glass and bronze foundry and working with “Taller Tres”. Taller Tres is a foundry known for housing master technicians and consolidated Mexican artists such as Jose Luis Cuevas. Currently Hugo Barajas is working on the creation of bronze pieces in high and low relief to merge geometric symbols of cubic and triangular shapes which provokes the personal imagination, with local materials and a combination of ancestral nuances in its construction, this through the casting of pieces in various formats ranging from small and medium format works. His multidisciplinary art, allows him to create pieces combining different techniques such as oil on linen, fused glass, steel sculpture, lost wax bronze, ceramics. The fusion of those techniques create a dialogue between different languages which creates a story in each of his pieces. Among many of his expressions of this multidimensional dialogue there is the use of recycled bronze burrs on linen and the creation of a collection of unique jewelry pieces.
